Senator Filippo Melchiorre deemed it necessary to send a note to the Antimafia Committee, which deals with mafia infiltrations in sports events and relationships between organized crime and sports clubs. The note was sent in response to recent news reports about Juve Stabia. The goal is to conduct institutional investigations, in full respect of the prerogatives of competent bodies and involved persons, in order to verify any potential interests for the Committee and ensure maximum transparency on matters concerning an important and highly followed sports reality. The Committee has the task of collecting useful elements to understand the scope of possible interventions by organized crime in the world of sports, with particular attention to phenomena related to fan control, ticket touting, illegal betting and relationships between criminal organizations and sports clubs. For this reason, I believe it is necessary to shed full light on the matter, in the interest of legality, sports protection and fans.
